Ode to Alfie
Our beautiful hound, our handsome boy,
Whose life gave all of us so much joy.
So small in time; so large in life . . .
Leaves pain so sharp . . . cuts like a knife.
Perpetually in puppy state
No one could ever have guessed your fate,
Gigantic form and shaggy hair,
Stood so strong
With royal air,
A bounding stride
A bark so deep . . .
Memories we will always keep . . .
Our gentle giant; dog of kings.
King of dogs . . .
With angel wings.
