Sirus lives with Sarah and Michael McNicholas and their young son, Aidan,
and springer spaniel, Holly, in Leeds, Yorkshire. Sadly, his very best friend,
Bedlam died in January 2008.
Meet Sirus!

Sirus was returned to his breeder from his first home neglected, underweight and ill, and joined the McNicholas family in February 2007. Since then, he has been diagnosed as epileptic, and sadly, has now developed osteosarcoma in a hind leg.

Although he is the most attentive and quietly charming house dog, he will persist in trying to eat dogs he thinks might be a threat.  He is charm itself with dogs he knows and trusts but strange dogs are terrifying to him, and when in a panic he is a danger to all so has to be muzzled in parks and places where strange dogs might run up. This is a shame but much safer for everyone, and he does walk without his muzzle in areas where other dogs are easily avoided. Fortunately, Bedlam's reputation goes before him, so most local dog owners are very understanding and he manages to be quite a park favourite, being such a peaceable and gentle soul when not in a panic.

He is a true sight-hound and moves beautifully with great power. He's a delight to watch which makes it all the more sad that he will soon have his leg amputated (followed by chemo) to remove his pain and give him a chance of a little longer life.  He is Aidan's favourite, and can often be found on top of whichever toy the boy is trying to play with.

Sirus has gained a lot of weight since he joining the family, his ulcers have healed and he has had holidays and lots of love. Hopefully, he will be able to enjoy lie for a while longer as Sarah and Michael really can't imagine their pack without him . . . they've learnt that you need great big hearts as well as great big beds for these dogs.
