Brendhan & family from Kentucky |
Steve and Ruth Croghan of Louisville, Kentucky have been 'afflicted' with the love
of wolfhounds since meeting Brendhan, their first, as a puppy in 2003. Ruth had
always wanted a wolfhound, and they now live with three: Brendhan, Brigid, a
beautiful red wheaten (born 2004) and Doolin's Devil May Care (born 06.06.06 .
. . !) who normally answers to 'Dammit Doolie!' Brigid is the pack diva, having appeared in the Kentucky Opera's production of 'Lucia d' Lamamore' in 2006. Brendhan was the stand-in - he weighed more than the somewhat anxious tenor who was to lead the 'hunting dog' on stage! For the last few years, the Croghans have hosted and participated in the Louisville Irish Fest Celtic dog area, and marched in the St Patrick's Day parade. |

Beautiful Brigid |
Most of Steve and Ruth's human friends no longer come over for dinner parties - instead
they meet them outside their home . . . such is life with a pack of wolfhounds,
but all three are the most gentle creatures they've ever met, and are amazing
around children and other dogs. Steve and Ruth also raise miniature dachshunds,
one of whom loves to sleep on Brigid on cold winter nights. Brendhan is
very protective of the smaller dogs and shares his food bowl with them. |
