Maggie and Clyde live with Stephanie Snell, and in spite of the fact that they are
both determined diggers and incorrigible thieves, she wouldn't change them for
the world! |
Stephanie's life is full of precious moments - like when Clyde stole a bag of sugar
from the kitchen counter early one morning, and she woke to find sugary glue
on the floors and sugar paste on the rugs and couch! And that was just the first
time . . . ! Clyde steals for the fun of taking rather than to eat. He has stolen apricots, coconut, bonito flakes (dried smoked fish) and cans of vegetables. He usually trots outside and down to the river bank with them, and just lays there looking at his treasure. |
Maggie is a thief as well, and used to steal from the neighbour's rottweiler. Every
day, the owner would give the dog a giant rawhide chew bone, and every day Maggie
would go and get it. After about a week, Stephanie collected all the bones
and took them back. The next day all the bones were back in Maggie's yard! As for digging, there are craters in the garden, driveway and yard - Stephanie has given up filling them, and now just warns friends so they don't fall to the middle of the earth, never to be seen again. |
