Gypsy November 1996 - February 2004 Jacquelynne Cawthorne and her family rescued Gypsy from ill-treatment by her previous owner when she was about a year old. They showered her with love, and she gave them three litters of lovely wolfhound puppies. Gypsy was put to sleep following the recurrence of a tumour at the age of seven. |
Deirdre May 1999 - 16 June 2004 Deirdre, who was bred in Sweden, lived with Mary-Jane Fox of Ireland and her two rescue greyhounds. Mary-Jane says she never had a dog so loyal, conscious, intelligent or gentle. She could take her anywhere without a lead, in busy traffic or open fields, and Deirdre walked at heel naturally, although she was neither insecure nor nervous - she just wanted to be near Mary-Jane. Deirdre died of congestive cardiac failure at the age of five. More about Deirdre |
Cesca 1 May 1997 - 22 May 2004 Cesca was bred, owned and loved by Fran Smith-King and Bill Barnbrook. She was such an intelligent lady, who understood everything they said to her and listened carefully for her favourite words. She had two litters and made a super mother. Leader of the pack until her dying day, if she spoke the pack jumped. She was a wonderful girl, adored by all who knew her. She had kidney failure and was put to sleep as her quality of life was not good. |

Aisha July 2001 - 19 May 2004 Aisha was Roxy Robitz's wonderful young gir. She was always happy, and knew how to cheer Roxy up when she had a bad day. She was Hungarian Junior Champion, and the first wolfhound awarded Best Junior in Show in Hungary. She died of torsion less than three months after the death of her beloved companion, Daisy. Colby 1999 - 16 April 2004 Julie McGill took Colby into her home from a shelter in February 2001. A true Irish wolfhound in heart if not in pedigree, he brought such joy, loyalty and love to her and Elizabeth that even while grieving they laugh to remember this most special boy, and count it a supreme privilege and blessing to have known him. Daisy April 2003 - 2 March 2004 Daisy lived with Roxana Robitz in Hungary. She was sweet, cute, lovely . . . she was the promise of the future. She had that special gentle shine that Irish wolfhound bitches have. She was killed by a hit-and-run driver at the age of ten months. |

Sgeolon 1998 - 23 September 2004 Sgeloan (known as 'Ski' and named after the great Cu-Chulainn's dog) lived with Averill and Barrie Robinson in Perth, Western Australia from the age of two. A rescue hound, Ski loved going for long walks in the bush chasing kangaroos, though he never caught one, not even close! He died of cancer aged six. |
Ykä 20 December 1999 - 6 September 2004 One of eleven puppies, it was Ykä who chose Anita Kuosmanen of Finland to be his owner - he was irresistible! He was meant to be Anita's show dog, but unfortunately his health was poor. He was a gentle giant at 37" (93 cm) tall, was well behaved, kind, loved everybody and was loved by everybody. After many operations for haemangio-sarcoma, the vets were unable to do more for him and he was put to sleep at the age of four. More photos of Ykä |
Viivi 27 February 1995 - 19 July 2004 Viivi was a rescue dog who was taken in by Anita Kuosmanen of Finland at nine months old because she had problems in her original home - for example, she stole food from the refrigerator. She was an enthusiastic lure courser, but had to give up it because of an injury to her cruciate ligament. It didn't stop her stealing food though! She died at the age of nine after being hit by a car. More photos of Viivi |

Scooter 1997 - 26 February 2004 Carroll and Billy Calhoun of Dickinson, Texas adopted Scooter in 1997. He loved Christmas, and they always wrapped a bone and put it under the tree for him. He would wag his tail so hard his whole body would shake with excitement. Their lives just aren't the same without him since he died from bloat at six years old. |
