Milka 17 July 2001 - 7 March 2009 Milka, much loved by Mandy Riley and Merlin Thomas, twice defied death - once from bone cancer and then pneumonia. Lymphoma was too much for her and she was put to sleep after a special, final day. In life, she touched so many people and taught Mandy and Merlin never give up. They felt so lucky to have had her. She will be sorely missed. |

Cormac June 2004 - 9 May 2009 Cormac was John Ransford's third wolfhound (successor to Fhion and Fhionagan), and his partner, Vicki Harper's first. He had been diagnosed with heart disease and in spite of the best treatment, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of four. His going has left a huge hole in John and Vicki's life - he was a dog who loved cuddles, and spent most of his time at John's side. |
Romana 22 August 2000 - 14 April 2009 Romana, known as 'Mana', was the second, very much loved wolfhound of Cecile Zych- Grabowska of Normandy. Mana came to Cec as a four year old and soon won her heart, and that of Tonga, Cec's magnificent male wolfhound. Mana died quietly at home of heart disease at just a few months before her ninth birthday, leaving Cec completely heart-broken. |
Brody 29 May 2007 - 27 June 2009 Brody was Joan and Ron McAuley's fifth wolfhound, a sweet and endearing boy, even when he was being mischievous. His death from aspiration pneumonia (inhaling a foreign body) was a great shock to Joan and Ron, who miss him dreadfully. He was a great presence and has left behind an unfillable empty space. |
Oscar 26 November 2002 - 4 Feb 2009 Oscar was the first wolfhound of Paul and Nova of Brisbane, Australia. He was the bravest and most handsome of wolfhounds, and was put to sleep when cancer was diagnosed at the age of six. He is greatly missed, not just by Paul and Nova, but also his "Auntie" Meg, who still has tears in her eyes thinking about him. |
Connor 4 August 2004 - 9 June 2009 Connor was Julia McKendry's fifth wolfhound, and one of the most precious. A litter brother to our Hogan, Connor was diagnosed with heart disease at a very young age. He and Julia fought a long and courageous battle against the disease, and the fact that he almost made it to his fifth birthday is a testament to Julia's love and commitment and to Connor's determination and pure wolfhound stubborness. |
Rhania 2003 - 18 August 2009 Beautiful Rhania was Sarah Powell's third wolfhound, a six year old wheaten who had had a chequered history and needed a secure and loving final home. This she certainly found, and in her short time with them she became an integral part of the Powell family. She was put to sleep after being diagnosed with inoperable cancer. |
Connan 5 August 2003 - 13 Nov 2009 Connan lived with and was greatly loved by Petra Omahen and her family in Slovenia. A renowned multi champion show dog, he was, more than anything, the champioin of Petra's heart and his unexpected death at the age of six has left the whole family stunned and bereft. |
Luke 24 Sept 2001 - 6 October 2009 Luke (Lucrezia) was Margaret Gorman's first wolfhound, and her partner, Rick's, third. A very special girl, she was Margaret's beautiful baby. At the age of eight Luke developed an aggressive, inoperable mammary cancer and was put tenderly to sleep at home, with her family around her. |
Beamish 13 Feb 2004 - 2 December 2009 Gillian and Brian Oliver, who live in Spain, vowed never to have another dog after loving and losing an assortment over the years, but then in spring 2004 along came Beamish, almost by accident. His death from bone cancer at the age of five was a devastating blow. They, and all Beamish's friends, will never forget this most gentle of giants. |
Gilligan 17 Jan 2002 - 2 November 2009 Gilligan was the second wolfhound of Dennis & JoAnne Priscandaro, of Forked River, New Jersey, but he was very much JoAnne's own heart-hound. Her bond with him was very special, and his sudden death at the age of nearly eight was a terrible shock. The huge empty space Gilligan's going has left behind in JoAnne's heart is a source of ongoing sadness to the family. |

Bosco 2003 - 23 September 2009 Bosco was a rescue dog, adopted by Maya Smets of Aarschott in Belgium in December 2OO7 at the age of four-and-a-half. His health was poor, with weakness of his hindquarters that meant Maya couldn't go out walking with him. But in the garden and on his sofa he was very happy, and was the most grateful dog Maya ever had. His death was very hard for Maya to accept, perhaps because he needed so much care. He joins Maya's earlier hounds - Hellagh (1983-1992) Tessa (1992-1999) Clovis (2002 - 2005) each of them remembered with much love and respect. |
